Agents
Sometimes I get discouraged when I check my directory for agents or publishers and find that most publishers will not accept work from anyone but agents. However, if we cannot find an agent willing to accept our work, what do we do? I've heard many different ideas about this subject. But to me it all comes down to this; If your work is the best you can make it and you are still getting rejections, it is obviously not your best work. I have had publishers and agents tell me that the voice is good. My characters filled out nicely. Then only to say "it doesn't fit our needs", or, "I don't feel that I can help you with your project," and my favorite, "Your writing project is great and I wish you luck in finding the right Agent/publisher for your work."
What does that mean? Your work is good, but not good enough? Then the cycle begins again. No agent, no work. Agents are just as hard to come by as publishers interested in your work. Anyone have any other comments?
